“My Mom’s Quilt with Joe Marullo” November 17 | 7pm-8:30pm

Our speaker this month will be Joe Marullo with a fascinating story of an Italian farming family from Alto Loma. After years of effort, a Texas mother’s quilt is finally finished; completed with a new book, by her son, to fulfill his Mom’s legacy.

Finding the Purse & Family” October 27, 2022 | 7pm-8:30pm

Sarah Greer Osborne, Executive Director of Communications, Community Engagement and Cultural Affairs at the City of League City, and Richard Lewis, Vice-President of the League City Historical Society, with a “Behind the Scenes View” of finding the little purse in the recently acquired and renovated League City Community Center.


Galveston Forts of the Modern Era” September 29, 2022 | 7pm-8:30pm

Our speaker, Judith Rinks has always been interested in history, the military, and mechanical things. She will be sharing her wealth of know about historic Forts, state of the art engineering structures that were built with mostly wooden frames and pile drivers.


Jimmy Phillips, Wood Carving Artist” August 25, 2022 | 7pm-8:30pm

Clear Lake resident Jimmy Phillips began his art career around 2005 while chopping down a tree in his front yard. He always imagined himself as an artist since learning to draw from his mother and Hurricane Ike in 2008 brought a new opportunity. The City of Galveston hired Mr. Phillips to began carving some of the damaged trees and this launched into opportunities to carve trees across the state. The City of League City recently hired Mr. Phillips to carve two diseased century-old oak trees that had to be cut from Historic League Park. Find out about these newest League City carvings, where they are, and the process that goes into creating these meaningful pieces of local art. Everyone is welcome!


Texas City Disaster’s 75th Anniversary” June 30, 2022 | 7pm-8:30pm

Join Trenton Hooker of Hook, Line and Sinker Productions as we view his new 25 minute documentary on the Texas City Disaster’s 75th Anniversary followed by Q & A discussion. LCHS will have an artifact from our collection that will be on display.

Our meetings are free and the public is welcome. Come and hear this dynamic speaker and socialize with friends for the first time in 2 years.


Fly Girls of WWII” May 26, 2022 | 7pm-8:30pm

Hear Lone Star Flight Museum Curator, Eleanor Barton, on the history of the Fly Girls of WWII at Houston Municipal Airport (now Hobby) - the initial training site for the WASP (Woman Airforce Service Pilot) classes. She will also have rarely seen WASP artifacts from their collection.
